Some say Pete Best was never a Beatle. I totally disagree. When you’ve served as drummer in a struggling band and played endlessly in pubs in the dark alleys of Hamburg,Germany for almost 16 hours straight every single night for 2 years in a band who call themselves “The Beatles”… in music circles they call this “paying your dues” before the big time.
You’ve gone through a press photo shoot (Pete Best: 2nd from the left beside Paul McCartney). This means you were ready to be officially launched to the press.
There are a thousand and one reasons why he has kicked out of The Beatles at the very nick of time they were about to take a ticket to ride to the toppermost of the poppermost…that remain to be unwritten and unsaid.
The Beatles are now history. Yet, millions of fans all over the world still bask in the glorious days of their music…even John and George, and to this day, Ringo and Paul still ride on the winds of being ‘toppermost of the poppermost’…and so what makes Pete Best any different?
