How to sing to an audience bigger than the Shea Stadium

I am a self-confessed Karaoke addict.  There, I said it.  I had a collection of multiplex cassette tapes. Of course, I had the Best of The Beatles multiplex collection.  I had a blank tape in tow and l carried this tower of fame (or maybe shame) from the living room to my room so that I could practice or pretend I was singing on the Shea Stadium.  Yup, the image you see below was the one thing I needed to fulfill my singing fantasies; the one thing that weighed heavier than me (hey, c’mon I was in highschool then!)

We’ve all witnessed the evolution of the Karaoke.  If the Karaoke machine of yore, was like subjecting myself to weight training,  using the Karaoke now requires nothing more than a few clicks of the fingertips to type:  http://www.karaokeplay.com

My friend introduced me to this website which is an online karaoke system where one can sing-along and record oneself singing karaoke, with over hundreds of popular songs to choose from.  And it proves the saying ‘the best things in life are free’!  It has a very social media-like and interactive interface that allows you to publish your karaoke recordings and allow your network of friends to give you a score or a comment, or you may even record an online duet.

During my multiplex days, I pretended the whole Shea Stadium was listening.  Now, the world — the whole world wide web audience could be listening, and that’s for real. Swell, huh?
