JulAM I THE ONLY ONE CURIOUS ABOUT TEKKEN THE MOVIE? Here’s the back story behind this curiosity…Gives away my age (gasp!) Back when Playstation 1 was fab and Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg was still in his nappies, my boyfriend (now my husband of 10+ years) and I spent some of our measly paychecks just to play the coolest badass stress-bustin’ video game called Tekken. Our regular date consisted of feasting on Jollibee Chicken Joy and Chilli Wings, and an adrenaline rush from playing Tekken in a humid arcade in Farmer’s Cubao. He was Jack and I was Michelle, but we share a mutual admiration for Yoshimitsu! When we managed to save a little, we bought our own second-hand Playstation and the action lasted til the wee hours of the morning. We outgrew Tekken, eventually, as our work-related stress grew and grew ;-) Got married. Had kids. Then Playstation 2 found its way again in our living room, this time, with our son at the helm. It was a delight for me again sharing and battling it out with him a new generation of Tekken characters in sharper graphics and slicker outfits to boot! I know this movie could turn out to be one monstrous flop (or maybe not) as in other video-game-turned-movies. Nostalgia is the curiosity that killed the cat.
